A Master Storyteller Writes About Homeless People

Dr. Okin is a master story teller. Still, when I decided to read the book I was ambivalent.

I thought to myself, this is a book that I should read, and reluctantly put it in my bag for the holiday weekend.

It turned out to be a series of stories as compelling as the stories of Studs Terkel. People who are so alive and real that they seem to jump off the pages of the book. They all were homeless, of course, but this is a book about fascinating people who happen to be homeless, rather than a book about the ponderous topic of homelessness.

You will enjoy this book and, incidentally, it will make you reflect about how you think about those folks you run into during your busy days on the streets of your neighborhood.
