I want to encourage readers of this blog to consider signing up for Bipolar Disorder Connect. It is an easy to navigate social media site devoted to helping people with chronic health conditions. It seems to have a good cadre of moderators, which is important to prevent the tendency of support groups to veer off into an unproductive direction (“Ain’t it awful?”). There are lots of lively discussions.
The site is easy to navigate, and there is an iPhone app that is extremely popular.
While I was online I saw a very thoughtful post about psychosis by someone with bipolar, one about when to tell the psychiatrist you are dating that you are bipolar, and one from a young woman who was told by a friend that she looked to “beautiful” to be bipolar… Interesting and entertaining stuff.
I would love to hear from others about this site and their experiences with it.
