A Farewell from Emma Swayze

farewellHello all,

I am sad to say that the time has come for me to say goodbye to creating new posts on the moodsurfing blog, for today is my last day interning for Dr. Forster. I will be studying abroad in Scotland for a semester and then returning to Boston College for my junior year.

I am extremely grateful for the opportunity I had to both be involved with the moodsurfing website and to intern for Dr. Forster at Gateway Psychiatric Services.

During my time at GPS, I have learned so much from watching Dr. Forster each day. My knowledge of mental disorders has increased after much research for the various articles, and I have gained a greater understanding about the many different elements that make up a psychiatric practice.  Along with obtaining new research skills, I picked up tips and techniques to create a positive flow of communication with others.

Dr. Forster has taught and shown me the importance of organization, openess, flexibility, and enthusiasm in his field of work. It was a great experience to see him work with patients with a positive and empathetic attitude. I truly believe in his ability to make a difference in the lives of others, and I hope that someday I will be able to do the same.

Thank you everyone for your support! I really enjoyed writing the posts for the site.

Best,

Emma Swayze
