New Review: Fish & Marine Oils
High Quality Fish Oil Supplements Found, But Pitfalls Exist: We recently completed tests of fish, krill, algal, calamari and green-lipped muscle oil supplements. Although we identified many high-quality supplements (some costing just pennies per day), several others did not contain their listed amounts of EPA and/or DHA or had inadequate labeling. Also, we discovered that a widely promoted marine “omega” product contained only tiny amounts of EPA and DHA. Get the test results for 46 products, including prenatal, children’s and pet formulas, in the new Fish Oil and Omega-3 Fatty Acid Supplements Review (Including Krill, Algal, Calamari and Green-lipped Muscle Oils) which you can read after you subscribe.
Update: Reduced Risk of Death with Vitamin D — A recent review of clinical studies involving vitamin D concluded that supplementation with vitamin D-3 significantly reduced overall mortality among older individuals by 11%, while vitamin D-2 had no overall effect. The review did not define exactly when or how much vitamin D is most effective, but you can find sensible guidelines in the Summary section of the Vitamin D Supplements Review which you can read after you subscribe.
