The “forum” page seems to be generating renewed interest. This has sparked me to reevaluate how we manage all of the ways that you (the readers) interact with this site.
I have never been all that happy with the “Comments” function. At the bottom of each post there is a place where you can post comments (I have to approve you to post the first time that you write something so it will take a few hours to see your comment post – this is to avoid spamming). However it is hard to find and there is no way of connecting comments and creating discussions, which are potentially more interesting.
The forum page is currently hosted by Bublaa (which is convenient and easy for me to manage). Although Bublaa is not the most sophisticated forum hosting application it seems to work pretty well.
Bublaa offers a “Comments” function of its own, and that function would allow comments to show up in the forum, where they might generate discussion.
It seems to me that most of the folks who comment are part of the forum already, although many are not active.
For these two reasons I am inclined to try switching to Bublaa comments… but wanted to offer you, the readers, a chance to comment on this change.
